4th Grade if I am absent...

You will be creating a tall delicious hamburger collage.

The substitute will be giving you a piece of light brown paper, dark brown paper, and a large piece of black paper.  You will also be getting a pattern for hamburger buns.  Each table will also receive a bag of colored paper pieces to share.  You need to have a pencil, scissors, and glue. If you did not bring yours, just borrow from the classroom supplies.  Your job is to follow the directions below to create a tall and delicious looking hamburger.

Directions:

  1. Write your name on the back bottom right hand corner of the black paper.
  2. Cut out the bun patterns and trace on the light brown paper.  Then cut out out the buns from the light brown paper.
  3. Glue the top of the bun to the top of the long white paper and glue the bottom of the bun at the bottom of the white.
  4. Use the darker brown to make a couple of patties.
  5. Now get creative.  Use paper from the bag to create all types of toppings.  Drippy mustard and ketchup, pickles, onions, tomatoes, lettuce, bacon, eggs....... use your imagination.

Things to keep in mind:
  • You can use crayons, markers, or colored pencil to add small details such as seeds but the main shapes of the objects need to be cut from paper.
  • Be sure to put the glue on the same side as the pencil lines so your toppings look neat.
  • Be sure to think big.  You are making a big hamburger and that needs big toppings.
  • Do not draw items in the middle of the piece of paper.  Keep to the edge so you are saving a good scrap to use for something else.
  • You probably won't get done and that is ok.
